The Edenton Steamers' four-game losing streak was snapped on Saturday in Wilmington, defeating the Sharks 7-1. The win improves the Clams to 2-6, receiving its first road win.

Devon Gardner led the way with two hits, three walks and three runs batted in. Gardner, who began the season hitting 0-for-9, is now on a three-game hit streak. Over the span, he is 5-for-8 with four RBI and five base on balls.

Anthony Warneke and Nick Caruso each kept hot with the bat, logging two hits apiece with two runs. Caruso's batting average is now at .414 through eight games and Warneke's on-base percentage is .417.

Also reaching base several times was Rich Ciufo. The Brown Univesity infielder picked up a RBI on a double down the left field line, but was also hit by three pitches.

It was a bullpen day for the Steamers. Josh Leaser started his first game of the season and pitched three scoreless innings with three punch-outs. Angelo Gennari, Casey Queener, Holden Drake and AJ Spencer all tossed one frame without a run surrendered. Queener struck out all three batters he faced.

RD Lutze received the win in two innings of work. Lutze struck out two and handed the Sharks one run.

For Wilmington, Caleb Bishop earned the loss as the starter. Going five innings, Bishop gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks.

Paxton Wallace's day was memorable at the plate for the Sharks, scattering three hits and a walk and getting the only RBI of the game for his team.
