Anthony Warneke blasted two home runs while Ben Anderson fired 10 strikeouts to charge the Steamers to a 9-4 win on Saturday night over the Wilmington Sharks at Hicks Field.

Warneke, who entered the night with one home run all season, sent two shooting stars over the right field wall, picking up four runs batted in. He now leads Edenton in RBI this summer with 17.

Ben Anderson, making his first start, slinged five shutout innings to earn his first victory. He now has 16 punch-outs in 9.2 innings without a single run given up.

The win closed out the Steamers' first half record at 12-14. Starting the year at 2-9, Edenton finished going 10-5 to sit in second place in the North division.

Holden Drake held the Sharks down with two more shutout innings out of the bullpen, fanning three hitters.

Kyle Shimp closed the gate on Wilmington with three strikeouts of his own in the ninth inning. Shimp has recorded six outs this season and all of them are via the strikeout.

Anthony Jefferson and Zane Harris contributed with multi-hit games each. Jefferson finished with a double, two stolen bases, a walk and a run scored from the eighth spot in the lineup. Harris also drew one walk.

Bryson Worrell knocked one RBI back in the fourth inning. Rich Ciufo continues to lead the Coastal Plain League in extra-base hits, adding his 11th double on Saturday night. He now has 15 hits going for extra bases.

Ben Whetstone brought his on-base percentage to .500 after walking three times. He also scooped his fifth RBI of the year and scored once.

Edenton returns for the second half of the year on July 2 on the road against the Martinsville Mustangs for a doubleheader.
