Ben Anderson's dominance on the mound for the Steamers continued on Thursday night at home, defeating the Morehead City Marlins 6-3.

Edenton's second half record improved to 2-6, while Morehead City's dropped to 3-4.

Anderson made his second start and sixth overall appearance, dazzling for five innings with just one run allowed. It was his first run given up after shoving 18 straight frames with a perfect earned run average. His ERA is now at 0.46.

The Steamers offense for the second consecutive night bolstered a four-run second inning. In the frame, they totaled five hits, a sacrifice fly RBI and a groundout RBI.

The Clams closed the gate with two more runs in the sixth.

Four Steamers finished with two hits, which was led by Anthony Jefferson. Coming into the contest with just one run driven in all summer, Jefferson tallied two on Thursday night.

Zane Harris and Rich Ciufo each added a pair of base hits and two runs. Ciufo entered the game with no hits in his previous 11 at-bats and he was able to snap that skid in the second inning. Harris extended his hit streak to six games.

Bryson Worrell logged the other two-hit night with one walk. Nick Caruso contributed with another run batted in through the left side of the infield.

Zach Stromberg battled for three innings of relief and threw one bad pitch. Allowing two runs on one hit, he surrendered a two-run home run hit by Hunter Shepherd, who had all three RBI for the Marlins.

Ryan Scharf earned his third save of the season, closing out the ninth with a strikeout and no runs.

Mason Duke suffered the loss as Morehead City's starter. He tossed four frames, giving up four runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Zach Barnes threw the final four innings.

Edenton returns to action on Friday nigth on the road against the Holly Springs Salamanders set for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
