"The Steamers are an iconic team when it comes to Collegiate Summer Baseball. My goal is to continue to bring a professional and winning atmosphere to the Steamers." Burroughs said.
In 2018, Burroughs first year as the head coach, the Steamers missed the playoffs by a half of a game finishing with a 24-26 record.
"The Steamers are very excited to have Russ back for 2019. He did a great job leading our players in his first year at the helm." said General Manager Tyler Russell. "Russ and the players seemed to bond really well this past summer. His professional experience is a great thing that he brings to the table. He knows what it takes to make it to that level, and he tries to put our players on the right track to get there too. He also embraces the unique culture of the Town of Edenton and Historic Hicks Field." Russell added.
Burroughs and Russell have already finished constructing the roster for the 2019 season. "Russ and I have been hard at work this offseason with finding our next crop of players. We look forward to not only putting a good product on the field, but having an outstanding group of young men that will make this town proud." Russell stated.
Burroughs played four seasons of professional baseball. He spent three years in Independent Baseball, and one year in International Baseball. During his time in professional baseball, he was used as a spot starter and left-handed specialist out of the bullpen.
