The Steamers have added to their pitching depth with its newest 2019 signings.
Cyle Clayton of Nicholls State University, Scott Leitholf of Lock Haven University and Alex Theis of Sinclair CC are the latest additions to Edenton.
Clayton, a 6'0 180-pound redshirt-freshman, is a right handed pitcher from New Orleans, LA.
"He will add depth in our bullpen and we have had good success with pitchers from their program. Their pitching coach is someone I trust, so we are excited to have Cyle on board," said head coach Russ Burroughs.
Leitholf, a 6'5 195-pound sophomore, was the PSAC East Freshman of the year last season with Lock Haven. The right hander recorded 54 strikeouts and posted a 7-2 record in 10 starts.
"It is nice to have another piece in our starting rotation as we get closer to the season. Alex is someone we can rely on to get big strikeouts and later in the season we can trust him to come out of the bullpen down the stretch," said Burroughs.
The Dillsburg, PA native has been the number one starter for the Bald Eagles this spring. He is currently 6-4 with 49 punch outs in 51.2 innings.
Theis, a 6'0 239-pound redshirt-freshman, has pitched to a 2.47 ERA in nine starts with Sinclair.
"Having another left hander in our rotation will allow us to have more versatility. He has also shown his ability to pitch out of the pen if needed," said Burroughs.
Hailing from New Riegl, Ohio, Theis has showcased his swing and miss repertoire with the Tartan Pride. He has recorded 78 strikeouts in 43.2 innings pitched, good for a 16.08 strikeouts per nine innings ratio.
With this trio, Edenton's fans should expect to see impressive young arms with electric stuff.
