Steamers Continue to Stockpile Arms

The Edenton Steamers have added three pitchers to their 2019 roster.

CJ Dornak of the Air Force Academy, Ryan LaMay of Sacred Heart University and Cristian Woods of the Community College of Rhode Island will be sporting the Teal and Black.

Dornak, a 5'8 185-pound, right handed pitcher, is someone that head coach Russ Burroughs believes will be able to develop during his summer in Edenton.

"He is someone that we want to see compete for a starting spot next season with Air Force. He adds depth to our bullpen and will be able to mature with the opportunities he will receive. It was also important for our team to continue its relationship with Air Force, especially because of the strong ex-military presence within our area," said Burroughs.

The Las Vegas, NV product is a true freshman. He was a 4A NV State Champion, compiling an 8-0 record with a 0.32 ERA.

LaMay, a 6'2 195-pound sophomore, has thrown 56.1 innings with 37 strikeouts this season with Sacred Heart.

"Ryan has a live arm and experience starting. We expect him to come into our rotation and add to our pitching depth. He will continue dominating and we know he has a versatile arm that will allow us to be flexible as we head down the stretch," said Burroughs.

Stemming from Washington Depot, CT, the right hander's most impressive outing this spring came against LIU Brooklyn. He tossed a complete game, allowing just 3 runs.

Woods, an East Providence, RI native, has struck out 23 batters in 34.1 innings pitched.

"He is a crafty lefty who will keep opposing hitters off balance. He knows how to hit the corners in order to create weak contact," said Burroughs.

With these additions, the Steamers now have 17 pitchers on their roster for the upcoming season.

Opening Day at Historic Hicks Field is on May 30th, as the Steamers host the Morehead City Marlins. Season tickets and ticket packages are on sale now and can be purchased by stopping by the Steamers office, or calling us at (252) 482-4080.
