The Edenton Steamers lost at Fleming Stadium 5-1 against the Wilson Tobs on Tuesday evening.

The Clams stranded 14 runners on base, including the bases loaded in the 1st and 6th.

C.J Dornak got his first start of the season and gave up a run in the bottom of the second as De'Andre Pitts lined a 2-out RBI single to right field.

Edenton did not wait long to respond. In the top of the third after back-to-back singles by Dane Simon and Ian Walters, Alex Alders chopped a ball to third and beat it out for an infield single.

After three innings the score was knotted at 1.

In the home half of the 5th, Hunter Gore sent a 1-2 pitch into right center field for a 2-out RBI double, giving Wilson the 2-1 lead.

After an error, Gore came home to score and the Tobs led 3-1 after 5 innings.

The best chance of the game for the Steamers came in the 6th when they had the bases loaded and Simon lined out to third to end the frame.

In the 7th, Deshawn Lookout went deep to left field for a two-run homerun, extending the Tobs' lead 5-1.

Nate Fiala earned the win as he went 4 innings allowing three hits, striking out five and no earned runs.

Overall Wilson's pen only allowed 1 hit in seven innings of work.

A bright spot out of the bullpen for Edenton was Cyle Clayton who pitched a scoreless 8th with three punchouts.

Steamers are 0-2 on the season against Wilson.

Walters extended his hit streak to eight games, he went 3-for-5 with three singles.

Up next, Edenton returns home to face the Peninsula Pilots on Wednesday evening. It is Ladies Night at Historic Hicks Field where ladies get in for $2 dollars and can enter an exclusive raffle.
