The Edenton Steamers beat the Peninsula Pilots 3-2 in ten innings Wednesday evening at Historic Hicks Field.
With no outs in the bottom of the 10th, runners at 2nd and 3rd, Justin Drpich chopped a ball into centerfield for a walk-off base hit. It was Drpich's first RBI as a Steamer.
Grant Crosby had a gutsy performance in the top of the 10th. Due to the international tiebreaker rules, Peninsula had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs to begin the frame. After a passed ball, the Pilots had the go-ahead run on third. Crosby responded by striking out the next three batters he faced.
Alex Theis made his second start of the season and dominated through 6.1 innings of work. The southpaw struck out 13 Pilots and allowed two earned runs.
Ian Walters continued his scorching start to the season as he crushed a solo shot over the scoreboard in right field. Walters leads the team with four homeruns and also hit a homerun against Morehead in a game that has not yet been completed.
Alex Alders went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run scored.
The Steamers move to 1-0 in extra innings games this season and the Pilots fall to 1-2.
Up next Edenton travels to War Memorial Stadium on Thursday to face off against the Peninsula Pilots.
