Steamers Homer In 6th Straight Game, Rout Pilots

By Victoria Conway

The Edenton Steamers continued their hot hitting Monday night at Historic Hicks field as they beat the Peninsula Pilots 13-2.

The Clams homered in their six straight game and have left the yard in all but one game this season.

In the bottom of the first, Ian Walters hit a two out double and Justin Drpich drove him in on a two-bagger of his own.

Quincy Hamilton homered for the second time in as many nights, a three-run shot in the bottom of the third. Hamilton has driven in eight runs in his past three games.

The hits continued for the Teal and Black in the fourth as Drpich lined a single to right field and plated two runs. The Binghamton product went 2-for-3 with three RBI, for his second straight game with three runs driven in.

For the second straight game, eight of the nine starters recorded at least one hit and all nine men reached base.

Alex Theis earned his first win of the season going five innings, seven strikeouts and two earned runs.

For the sixth time this season, the Steamer's struck out ten or more batters.

Edenton's bullpen did not allow a run in four innings of work.

Sean Hughes made his Steamers debut and tossed an immaculate inning. This is the right-hander's second stint in Edenton after spending the 2017 season as a Steamer.

Ian Walters scored four runs, a season high for the junior.

Edenton has Tuesday off and return to action when they host Wilson for a doubleheader on Wednesday night.
