The Edenton Steamers snapped their three-game losing streak defeating the Peninsula Pilots 9-6 at Historic Hicks Field.
Ian Fitzgerald rolled through five innings allowing just one hit and no earned runs. The left-hander also struck out five on his way to his first victory of the season.
The Clams provided plenty of offense as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead.
Alex Alders lead the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with three runs driven in. Alders launched his seventh long ball of the season in the third inning. He is now tied with Quincy Hamilton for the team lead. The Wright State product also swiped three bags, totaling 13 for the season and leading the Steamers.
Rob Weissheier recorded two hits, including an RBI single in the sixth inning.
This was the ninth meeting between Edenton and Peninsula. Steamers have a 6-3 season series lead over the Pilots.
Up next, Edenton travels to Martinsville for the third time this season as they take on the Mustangs at Hooker Field on Saturday evening.
