Clams Drop 1st Game Post All-Star Break

The Edenton Steamers fell 12-1 to the Morehead City Marlins at Big Rock Stadium on Wednesday night.

In their first game back since the All-Star break, the Clams got out to an early 1-0 lead when Alex Alders drove in Kenny Oyama in the top of the 1st with an RBI fielder's choice.

Morehead did not wait long to respond, as the Marlins got a run of their own in the bottom of the 1st.

Blake Beers made his first start for the Teal and Black. The right-hander went four innings, struck out four and allowed three earned runs.

The Marlins tacked on another four runs in the 5th and three more in the the 8th.

Morehead City improved to a league best, 23-9 with the victory.

The Steamers collected four hits, headlined by Kenny Oyama recording his four multi-hit game.

Edenton is 1-5 against Morehead this season and a 2-2 record in the second half. The Clams return home to face off with the Peninsula Pilots on Thursday evening.
